Visa immigration information

New Zealand law requires anyone who is working in New Zealand to hold a current valid visa and work permit that allows them to take up and remain in that position of work.

As the process to apply can be lengthy it is recommended that staff who have accepted a letter of offer with the University apply for a visa as soon as possible.

Massey University is an accredited employer for immigration purposes. This means that appointed staff are eligible to apply for a talent visa and work permit . A talent visa also enables the applicant to work toward permanent residency and can fast track the visa application process.

  • Applying for a talent visa

The talent visa is just one option, there are a number of different options available that offer different benefits and may be more suitable depending on individual circumstances. Full details of the different types of visas available, their cost and processing times can be view at the NZ Immigration website.

  • New Zealand Immigration

Should prospective staff require further individual assistance with immigration a free on-chat service is available during normal office hours, either New Zealand or United Kingdom time.

  • Crown Relocations

A comprehensive relocation package is provided for academic staff (lecturer level and above) who are offered a contract in excess of three years. For other appointments the applicant will usually be expected to meet most or all of the cost. For full details on our relocation guidelines, please visit this webpage.
